Lakers Hire Mike Brown

And the Lakers hire Mike Brown after Phil Jackson retires.
Maybe Lebron will come to LA. Hah!

Thunder vs Mavericks, Heat vs Bulls

Again, if you've been watching the NBA playoffs then you know the main difference between these two match-ups. Despite Dallas' prime defense today, the Western Conference Finals definitely are more of a shootoff, while the Eastern Conference packs in the paint and stacks up the defense.

Dirk's 24 for 24 from the line in game 1 was pretty ridiculous. 48 points on 12 of 15 shooting is almost unheard of. And Durant had 40, but Westbrook just couldn't land a field goal shooting just 3 of 15.

And in the Heat/Bulls series, Lebron just needs to take off. I know no one can compare to the D Rose contortions but Lebron can definitely drive just as hard which would open up other players.

And Chris Bosh just needs to quit being such a velociraptor.

Mavs.

Make that 4-0. Dallas finishing up the sweep today. Pretty classy play by Odom and Bynum though. Sheesh.

Saturday, May 7, 2011

The Dallas Mavericks.

3-0'ing the Lakers?
And just before the series started, I was talking to a buddy about the Mavs maybe getting swept up. Damn, what a turn around.

And that Derrick Rose performance was certainly MVP-esque.

NBA Playoffs and a quick song.

I'd love to see the Thunder and the Bulls in the championship. The Durant/Westbrook combo vs Mr. MVP Derrick Rose would just be too exciting. The Heat and Lakers are also very prime contenders, and are probably the two teams that seem to "need" this years championship. It could be Phil Jackson's last season, and another 3-peat for him would make a Hall of Fame coach even more special. Kobe wants to match Jordan. The Heatles are extremely hungry. Who will win it? I guess we just have to wait and see how everything pans out.

And for the song, some relatively new Mac Miller-

NBA and the Masters

Just going to post some NBA post-season predictions along with some thoughts on the Masters.

NBA-
Western Conference Finals- Lakers over Spurs in 6 (Even though I know seedings aren't set right now)
Wild card- Thunder. Who knows how they will pan out when playoffs come along. They closed out as best as possible against the Lakers last night, lets see if they can carry it over.
Eastern Conference Finals- Bulls over Heat in 7.
I think this one is pretty set in stone, the Celtics seem like they are crumbling a bit since the trade and whatnot and Rondo has just not been playing up to par. If Rondo has a good game, and they are playing defense like they were pre-Allstar break (even though no Perkins now), then the C's are pretty unbeatable.

Now for the Masters: I just wish Tiger had won this one. I want to see him hop back up and start dominating again. After the front 9 yesterday, he looked like he had his old swag back, and everyone was getting pumped. Although no one will really complain about par-ing the back 9 of Augusta, we all know Tiger could have taken it home.

And on a final note, D Rose for MVP. Yep.

Double Dose: Opening Day and a song.

Today was another big day in professional sports; it was Opening Day for the MLB. It was the day the seasons officially started and is a day many baseball fans look forward too. Unfortunately, the Giants lost to the Dodgers, but it was still a day that lived up to the hype. The only question I have is why were the Giants playing away? They won the World Series this past year; the least the league could do was give them a home game on Opening Day.

And on another note, for all you music fans, here is some Curren$y. This song is one of my current favorites.

NCAA Tournament, 2011.

Damn. If you've been following it, then you know this year has had its share of upsets. Butler making another run, Louisville in the first round, along with so many other nailbiters. I've always liked watching college sports for two main reasons: 1) they are the soon to be stars of the actual professional leagues, and 2) they give it their all 100% of the time. This is a bit different than professional leagues because I feel like a lot of the time, a lot of the well known players don't really try their hardest. Its like once you make it big, you don't have anywhere else to go, so they just pull their weight and do what is expected. These kids are trying to make a name for themselves so they just give it their all.

Music that just rides.

Current favorite music selection, a bit outdated for those of you music fiends, but definitely give it a listen. Song just... flows.

Lost.

I literally just finished watching the TV series Lost, and damn. Pretty crazy. I started watching around the beginning of February from the very beginning of the series because one of my roommates recommended it and he had an online Netflix account, which fortunately has all of the seasons available to stream (thank god for this because I probably wouldn't have lasted if I had to watch all the commercials). But yeah, definitely a good series if you've got about 100 hours free, hah. And favorite character for all of you who know- Vincent: a man's best friend.

Mac Millers new Mixtape and Lupe's Lasers

So this week had some really solid music drop- from Mac Miller's new mixtape titled "Best Day Ever" to Lupe's new album "Lasers", I think I'll have my music cut out for the next couple weeks. I am currently downloading Mac Miller's stuff so I haven't heard it yet, but Lupe's album is pretty dope. I'd definitely recommend both of them!

Latest Track: Snoop and Wiz

So, haven't posted a song in a bit, so I decided to throw the newest one thats been on repeat up. Song was leaked a while back even, but it is still pretty new. Really catchy radio hit type song, but it probably will never be played on the radio. Check it out and tell me what you think:

Soccer: Man U vs Chelsea

So if you follow soccer, I'm sure that you've heard about this game, but I'll go over some of the highlights for everyone. Basically, Nani and Rooney were throwing some action at Chelsea and Rooney hit a laser in the 29th. Goal. 1-0, Man U. Halftime comes along with Chelsea still trailing. Then, 9 minutes after the halftime whistle, the newly signed Luiz hit another laser, this time for Chelsea. Goal in the 54th. 1-1. Play continued to go back and forth for the next 20 or so minutes until a mistake in the Man U box led to a PK. Lampard took the rip into the center of the net and van der Saar didn't stand a chance, 78th minute goal. 2-1, Chelsea. Play continued to live up to the EPL hype but no other goals were scored. The only other really notable things were Drogba's dominance on the ball after Chelsea's second goal, and Vidic picked up a red because of frustration mostly.

Song of the Day/Week/Whatever, #13

Alright, so I haven't updated in almost a week now, but this song is straight fire. Busta Rhymes absolutely is ridiculous on this song, and its just one of those semi average Chris Brown songs. But really listen to Busta's part (the middle verse) and I promise you will be amazed.

Song of the Day/Week/Whatever, #12

Yet another Mac Miller song. I can't wait for his new mixtape on 3/11/11. I can't really remember if I've heard any other song with supercalifragilisticexpialidocious in it, but isn't not only in this song, he rhymes with it. Check it out.

Song of the Day/Week/Whatever, #11

Been slacking on the songs a bit recently, so I again apologize. About a week ago, one of my buddies told me to check out the group Black Hippy and I just never got around to it. So, today, I looked it up and found that they were actually pretty decent. They are a different type of rap group I feel like, but I still like them in a weird way. When I put them in Youtube, this was the first song that came up and I've listened to it a couple times now and I'm catching on. They rap in little miniature verses and some of them are pretty creative. Give them a listen:

Soccer/Sports Update #2

As I'm sure a lot of you are aware, this is the NBA All-star weekend and I am pretty pumped. Each day (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) there are different events with all of the best players in the league. The main event on Friday was the Rookie vs. Sophomore game, where John Wall was named MVP of the game as he broke the previous record set by Chris Paul with 22 assists (CP3 had 17 in '07). And now today is Saturday, and the main events for tonight are the Dunk Contest, the 3-Point competition, and the Skills Challenge. It is on right now as I'm typing this and I've pretty much been watching all day mostly to see Blake Griffin in the Dunk Contest. If you watch Sportscenter, I'm sure you have seen some of his dunks. Pretty ridiculous. And to finish it off, Sunday is the actual All-star game. It is the Eastern Conference All-stars vs. the Western Conference. Be sure to tune in to TNT at 5pm PST to check out the actual game.

Song of the Day/Week/Whatever, #10

Sorry I missed everyone yesterday, I was just super busy and not around a computer enough to throw another song up. But, on the bright side, this song will certainly make up for it. I feel like I'm this guys' number one fan right now because all I've been playing is him (and I've been reading wiki/his twitter/etc etc) but I feel like it's for good reason. This video was produced amazingly as well, and is just perfect for the song. Even if you're not a fan of this kind of music, just watch the video. It's worth it. Anyways, without further adieu: Mac Miller - Knock Knock!

Eminem at the Grammys

Two words: killed it.
All I have to say on the topic.

Song of the Day/Week/Whatever, #9

It's that time folks. 3:55 am and I'm still working on that homework. I'm sure most of you know how the college grind goes. Anyways, new song that I've been listening to for the past couple days; another slow and vibe type. I just put it on a CD for my car too (CDs, hah sorry I don't have that fancy iPod cord) and it just goes. Mac Miller is definitely getting up there on my favorite current rappers and he surely doesn't let me down with this one. I still can't believe that this guy was born in 1992 yet he still sounds like hes had that experience. Anyways, here it is:

Song of the Day/Week/Whatever, #8

For all of you Wiz fans: this is for you. This is the most recent song I've had on repeat, and for good reason. This song just like vibes hella well (norcal, whattap) and you can just sit there and like flow with it. Even though Black and Yellow never got its proper airtime because the Steelers lost, this guy still has some other good songs. Check this one out:

Soccer update #1: Man U vs Man City

If you watch Sportscenter every night like I do, then you're sure to see Wayne Rooney's goal on it tonight. He had one of the just purest bikes right into the upper-V that I've seen in a while. It was also for the go-ahead goal so everyone was just going nuts. Rooney has been somewhat quiet for a while and who knows if he will start getting his shine back. Meanwhile, Nani, another beast on Man U who played on Portugal in the World Cup, is starting to get his foot in the door as a premier footballer. Maybe he will be on the cover of the next FIFA, who knows.
Also, if you guys follow soccer, I'm sure you've heard that Torres is going to Chelsea. Also, if you saw the game last week, you probably saw that Liverpool beat Chelsea 1-0. I lol'd.

Song of the Day/Week/Whatever, #7

Sorry I missed you guys yesterday, I just didn't have time to stick one up. I'm pretty sure this song was released yesterday (or the day before) but definitely check it out. A buddy of mine has been listening to these guys for a while now and told me to check it out. So I'm passing the word on and here it is:

Song of the Day/Week/Whatever, #6

Since its past midnight, I guess this can technically be the next song of the day. I just have this song on repeat and I couldn't pass sharing it will everyone. I really am not a huge Kanye fan myself, but a friend of mine posted some lyrics on his facebook and they were from this song so I decided to check it out. I've had it running on endlessyoutube for the past two hours or so now. Check it out:

Song of the Day/Week/Whatever, #5

I think this really is turning into the song of the day. I've just got too many songs that I want to share, haha. Eminem is definitely one of my favorite artists. He had his sketchy moments somewhat recently, but I feel like he is getting back on track to where he was in his prime. All the albums before Relapse were straight heat. Eminem + Dr. Dre was/is a pretty deadly combo. Dre's got the beats (yay a pun, the headphones?) and who said white people can't rap?
Anyways check out this newish Eminem song (with a bunch of other notable artists as well)- Syllables.

Song of the Day/Week/Whatever, #4

New-ish song by Lupe (released probably like two weeks or so ago). Definitely catchy and definitely a good listen. His new album "Lasers" comes out in exactly a month from today, and I've got an iTunes gift card waiting for it.
Now before you all go off saying "why buy music nowadays?", I like supporting talented artists. I think he is definitely one. Check the song:

Song of the Day/Week/Whatever, #2

Maybe I will make this the sick song of the day. Who knows. Anyways, check out these ridiculous rhymes in Beast from the East:
Canibus' verse at 3:00 ish minutes is just too sick. Try and listen to all the words.

Movie to watch: Wedding Crashers.

One of best movies. End of discussion.

Song of the Day/Week/Whatever, #1

I'll try to keep posting a song per day/week (whenever I am feeling up to it, really) that I like and I think other people should listen to and would like as well.
Here's the first one, the kid, Mac Miller-
